Gullickson named editor-in-chief of Successful Farming

He is the 10th editor to lead the 120-year-old brand.

Gil Gullickson has been named editor-in-chief of the Successful Farming brand, effective July 1. He will replace Dave Kurns, who is retiring after 33 years with Dotdash Meredith.

“Since our founding in 1902, Successful Farming has committed to providing the very best content to farmers at their moment of need. Successful Farming always looks to serve the purpose of helping farmers be their best,” said Marty Wolske, Successful Farming publisher. “Gil is a lifelong practitioner of the art of service journalism. He is committed to creating meaningful connections with farmers and helping them be their best.”

Gullickson brings a wealth of editorial experience to his new role. Since he joined Successful Farming  in 2005, he has been an integral part of the brand’s agronomic coverage. In addition to producing exceptional content, Gullickson has led several standout partner projects, including the Soil Health Digest and Hometown Hero projects, in his role as Executive Editor, Crops Technology.

“I’m excited to build upon the editorial excellence for which Successful Farming is known,” says Gullickson. “Our award-winning editorial team will help farmers make or save money in their farming operations and show them ways to help better the lives of their families. We’ll do this through multiple platforms including print, digital, video and custom solutions.”

Past president of both the North American Agricultural Journalists and the Agricultural Communicators Network (ACN) and three-time winner of the ACN Writer of the Year award, Gullickson is a renowned member of the agricultural journalism industry.

A Langford, South Dakota, native, Gullickson received a bachelor's degree in agronomy from South Dakota State University. He lives in West Des Moines with his wife, Lisa. They have two children.
