3 Successful Farming editors cap their stellar careers

Editors have contributed more than 80 years of experience in agricultural media.

Goodbyes are always hard for me. I admit I always choke up when our kids are leaving the driveway after visiting.

I feel the same about three amazing contributors to Successful Farming. Combined with more than 80 years of tenure here, they are retiring. There will be 80 years of experience, wisdom, and industry respect that will walk out of the door. Sad, of course. But we are so proud of their legacy here and across the industry.

Dave Mowitz
39 years

Dave Mowitz
Dave Mowitz has been the consummate entrepreneur. He has built a nearly 40-year career at Successful Farming covering almost every subject.

He is most known for writing about farm equipment, but he does so much more than that: antique equipment, weather, irrigation, labor, farm ideas ... and so much more.

When executives here wanted to start a TV show 15 years ago, Dave was all-in.

He has been the face and host of our TV show forever. I still laugh at the time I saw him get cornered in a western Nebraska cafe by farmers who wanted to meet him. The real Dave Mowitz in the flesh!

Jodi Henke
16 years

Jodi Henke
You may not know her face as well but I am sure you recognize the voice of Jodi Henke.

She created and hosted episodes (more than 8,000!) of the Successful Farming radio show and the Living the Country Life radio program for nearly 15 years. There's no doubt you've heard her twice-daily broadcasts across the entire country.

Oh, and she also produces our Successful Farming podcasts, to boot. We will miss her humor – and her voice – dearly.

Paula Barbour
26 years

Paula Barbour
Paula Barbour also works mostly behind the scenes, but her work is crucial to the quality of our content.

In addition to compiling the ideas for the magazine’s best-read column, “All Around the Farm,” she copy edits every single page of the magazine – and all the original stories on our website, Agriculture.com. She has been here for nearly 27 years.

She sweats the details, and we treasure every serial comma and every correction.

It’s impossible to describe every one of their contributions over such stellar careers. Their work and friendship has made it fun to be part of the Successful Farming team. And our entire team is sad to see them steering their way down the driveway.

Here’s to three successful careers in ag journalism!
