Honda announces new utility and beginner ATVs for 2023

Honda has announced new updates to its lines of small-displacement ATVs for the 2023 model year.

"As a pioneer in the ATV industry, we're proud to continue offering models that are approachable, reliable, and affordable," says Brandon Wilson, sports and experiential manager at Honda. "The FourTrax Recon is such a versatile and practical machine, while TRX250X and TRX90X are all about fun and providing user-friendly platforms that allow new riders to get out and experience the trail."

FourTrax Recon

The FourTrax Recon ATV is Honda’s lightest multi-purpose ATV, with a curb weight coming in at 437 pounds. The Recon runs on a 229cc, single-cylinder four-stroke engine. The standard model has a manual foot-shift, five speed transmission, while an available ESP transmission has push-button shifting.

Despite its smaller size, this model is capable of hauling heavy loads with up to 500 pounds of towing capacity, and a combined 99 pounds of front and rear cargo rack capacity.

Like the Recon, the TRX250X runs a 229cc, single-cylinder four-stroke engine, providing the ATV with enough torque to climb hills and traverse difficult terrain. Honda’s SportClutch is designed to eliminate engine stalling, while maintaining the experience of operating a manual clutch. Front and rear suspension of this model have a long-travel of 5.9 and 5.7 inches respectively.

The Honda TRX90X is purpose-built for introducing young riders to ATVs, running on a light 86cc, single-cylinder four-stroke engine. Its four-speed semi-automatic transmission is designed to teach shifting without the complication of a manual clutch, and a throttle limiter enables power regulation.

Price and availability

The FourTrax Recon ES starts at $4,949 and is available for order starting November. The standard Recon starts at $4,699 and will be available to order starting in December.

The TRX250X starts at $5,299 and is available for order starting November.

The TRX90X starts at $3,349 and is available for order in December.
