Grow Pro Genetics adds three soft red winter wheat varieties to its offerings

The soft red winter wheat market has experienced some drastic changes in the past 20 years. Grow Pro Genetics has evolved with the market, identifying solutions to meet the challenges facing a growing population.

By adding three new soft red winter wheat varieties to its portfolio, the company is enhancing wheat growing strategies for growers.

1. GP 348. Developed specifically for the southern states (e.g. Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, Arkansas, Tennessee, Virginia, and the Carolinas), the next generation of the GP 348 has superior tolerance to stripe rust and leaf rust. Other major benefits of this wheat variety include exceptionally high test weight and high falling number. If you're looking at an early harvest, this variety also has a fast dry down rate.

2. GP 381. Compatible for nearly the entire eastern and Midwest region, the GP 381 (pictured above) includes a well-rounded disease packages for soft red winter wheat. The variety also features an enhanced BYVD tolerance and exceptional responsiveness to high fertility rates.

3. GP 463. The GP 463 has an exceptionally high tolerance to Fusarium head blight, and thrives in the Midwest and northeastern regions, such as Michigan and Pennsylvania. In addition, this variety also has a dense, smooth head type. To achieve the best return on your fungicide investment, the company advises managing GP 463 for foliar disease.

Developed by Grow Pro Genetics' AgriPro breeding program, these latest varieties bring the company's soft red winter wheat offerings to 11.
