Deere & Co suspends shipments to Russia and Belarus

CHICAGO, March 9 (Reuters) - Deere & Co has halted shipments to Russia and Belarus as the company evaluates the ongoing crisis in Ukraine, a spokesperson told Reuters over the phone on Wednesday.

The company's decision to suspend business activity comes after a growing list of companies shun Russia, or are cutting ties completely. Deere & Co. has had a presence in Russia dating back to 1973. The company has an office in St. Petersburg and a manufacturing and parts distribution facility south of Moscow in Domodedovo.

Manufacturing companies Caterpillar and Cummins also have operations in Russia but have not responded to requests for comment. (Reporting by Bianca Flowers and Nilanjana Basu)
