Skid Steer Post Puller

David Schuster needed a way to pull fence posts without constantly getting in and out of the skid steer. He found a piece of square tubing that fit a receiver hitch attachment, cut the tubing to about 24 inches, and drilled a hole for the receiver pin. Using 4 feet of a ¼-inch V-bar chain he welded one end to the end of the tube and the other end about 8 inches behind.

Limb Trimmer

George Pictor needed a way to trim out-of-reach tree branches. His idea: a log splitter attached to the pallet fork on his loader. Inverting the splitter, he welded a 1×2-inch flat piece of steel and a 2-inch piece of square tubing to the underside of the I-beam for crosspieces.

Winter Water Cover

When temperatures drop to single digits and lower with wind chills, even a heated waterer will freeze over. The solution: an old mud flap and aluminum straps. The hinges are bolted to the waterer above the waterline to prevent leakage. The flap helps retain heat, while livestock can easily lift the flap to get a drink.

Handyman Post Puller

Kansas farmer Jay Warner improvised a solution to pull posts during terrace maintenance. Warner used his handyman jack and a 3-inch-long scrap piece of 4-inch pipe. He slid the pipe down the post, hooked up the jack, and the post came out like a champ.

Electric Fence Steel Post Assembly

Having steel posts on corrals, automatic gates, and the like, I needed a way to attach electric fence hot wires without causing shorts. To get the spacing for the insulators, I cut PVC pipes to the length needed. I slid the insulators and the PVC pipes onto a ¾-inch rod and then bent the rod into a C shape.
