AGCO releases new manure pit monitoring system

A new Pit Monitoring Stick from AP – the equipment production branch of AGCO – lets producers see manure pit data in real time and assists them in making more effective decisions about pumping schedules. Traditionally, manure levels are calculated using a measuring tape or stick.

By combining a controller, pressure sensor, and stick that is inserted into the pit, producers can visualize manure to evaluate how much storage space is left.

“This new system also provides insights on how much pit storage producers are using week-to-week and month-to-month,” says John Slavin, AP product manager. “As a further benefit, it can help detect excessive soaking and large water leaks without the producer being on-site.”

The Pit Monitoring Stick can be used as a stand-alone system or integrated into other AP systems, like the EDGE barn controller, which sends the producer automated updates on the pit storage levels.

The system will be introduced into the AP line at the 2022 World Pork Expo in Des Moines, Iowa. For more information, producers can contact their AP dealer or visit AutomatedProduction.com
